Green Thursdays - Wig Lantern

Green Thursdays - Wig Lantern

This Green Thursdays is inspired by two different things.

First up is Give Me Back My Wig by Hound Dog Taylor and the HouseRockers. It's a boogie blues song by the masters of funky, sloppy electric blues. Great stuff.

Second up is an experience from my teenage years. Back in the 90s, wig companies used to offer free "wig previews" -- you send them a photo of your face, and they'd use whatever old school image editing program they used back then to make a digital print out of you "trying on" four of the wigs. My friend Josiah sent away for one of those freebies, and I'll tell you what...

He looked damn good in those wigs. My favorite was the curly blonde.

Hah, no way! My mom used to be a hairdresser and at her salon they once had a woman come in and do something like that. You'd choose a bunch of styles from a binder, get your picture taken, then get a slideshow of the whole mess on a VHS to take home, plus printouts. Aaahh, the wonder of technology.

Oh yeah I remember the VHS ones too!!! I think the one my friend got was the freebie that was supposed to entice you to get the VHS. I remember about 10 years back they had kiosks in malls they did a similar thing except they took the pic of you there.
